Giant pre-Flood tree stump

misidentification

Evidence status

Sampled rock is dolerite/diabase, not petrified wood.

Editorial assessment of this proposition; not a numeric confidence score.

An Antarctic rock outcrop is the remains of an enormous tree cut by angels.

Limitations

Source demonstrates circulation of the claim, not its truth; independently authenticated evidence is required.

SANAE IV research station on Vesleskarvet, 2008

Same location, different photograph: SANAE IV research station above the rocky Vesleskarvet nunatak, photographed by Ross Hofmeyr on 29 January 2008. Science Feedback identified this station and outcrop in the viral giant-tree-stump video. This is an independently licensed still photograph, not a frame from that video. Geological research at Vesleskarvet concerns dolerite rock; the image does not show a petrified giant tree.

Image rights and evidence limits

Dr Ross Hofmeyr (Wildmedic) own photograph, explicitly CC BY-SA 3.0 via Commons license migration; selectable separately from GFDL. Retain attribution and license link; adaptations must use same or compatible license. Supplied original bytes unchanged. This does not clear the viral Threads video, Science Feedback screenshots, North-West University photo, or research-paper figures.

Image existence does not prove a linked claim. Consult image-specific captions and reuse conditions.
