Hoax

Snopes found no supporting scientific publication and documented manipulated skeletal imagery and inconsistent institutional details.

Editorial assessment of this proposition; not a numeric confidence score.

Viral articles claim miniature humanoid skeletons dating to 600 million years ago were found in Antarctica.

Provenance is traced through the fact-check to a 2022 Xa Lua News version; this does not establish the absolute first publication.

Catalog review date reported: 2026-10-28. This is inherited catalog metadata, not a new verification of the linked source.

This record is source-linked. A local reproduction is not required to read the original source.

Links document the record, the claim’s circulation, an assessment, or reuse terms as labeled. A source link is not automatically corroboration.

satellite-image interpretation
A 400-foot ship is concealed in Antarctic ice
The reporting documents a shape-based interpretation, not an inspected vessel or authenticated wreck discovery. Resemblance in remote imagery alone cannot establish a ship.
image hoax
Antarctic retrieval photos
Modern artwork, not photographs.
misidentification
Artificial Antarctic pyramids
Pyramid-shaped mountain peaks are natural geological formations.
image hoax
Black structure in an iceberg proves a lost city
The particular article and images were not evidence of a discovery. The conclusion should not be generalized into a claim that every subglacial feature is fully known.
