MH370 remotely diverted to Antarctica

aviation conspiracy

Evidence status

Unsupported speculation

An attributed proposal is not evidence of an Antarctic aircraft location; no authenticated wreck discovery accompanies it.

Editorial assessment of this proposition; not a numeric confidence score.

Claim or proposition being examined

Norman Davies proposed that remotely hijacked MH370 might have ended beneath Antarctic snow.

Limitations

Reported in connection with Davies’s Beneath Another Sky; no conclusion about the actual disappearance is implied.

MH370 seventh-arc hypotheses in a published drift study

Figure from a 2018 MH370 drift study: numbered points are hypothetical debris origins along the seventh arc, over sea-surface temperatures for 8 March and 8 June 2014. A published Indian Ocean modeling comparison—not a confirmed crash site, flight-track observation, or evidence of remote diversion to Antarctica.

Oleksandr Nesterov (2018), Consideration of various aspects in a drift study of MH370 debris, Ocean Science 14, 387–402, figure 4. doi:10.5194/os-14-387-2018. CC BY 4.0.

One historical study, not current search guidance or a consensus determination. Both panels, dates, coordinates, numbered origins and Celsius scale are retained. The seventh arc is not itself a flight path. Figure 5 includes third-party source imagery and is deliberately excluded.
