Commercial tourism begins.
The Treaty Secretariat traces commercial tourism to the late 1950s. That history matters when evaluating claims that nobody is allowed to visit.
Treaty Secretariat / Tourism history ↗Questions about restrictions and blank map patches deserve specific evidence. Follow the history, then learn how to examine a particular image.

Treaty Secretariat / Tourism history ↗The Antarctic Treaty was signed on December 1, 1959, and entered into force on June 23, 1961. Its inspection provisions concern designated state observers; they are not general tourist access rights.
New Zealand treaty record ↗ · Read the treaty ↗Area protection adds location-specific controls. Ask which site and which rule is involved before turning a local restriction into a claim about the entire continent.
Treaty Secretariat / Protected areas ↗Signed October 4, 1991, the Protocol entered into force in 1998. Environmental protection is an explicit part of the regulatory framework.
Treaty Secretariat / Environmental Protocol ↗Annex V entered into force in 2002. Entry into Antarctic Specially Protected Areas requires a permit. A protected-area rule does not establish a continent-wide visitor prohibition.
Area protection and permits ↗Tourism exists alongside environmental, national, operational, and site-specific requirements. Check the current guidance for the exact activity and location.
Current visitor site guidelines ↗Google explains that Earth imagery can be assembled from multiple images and date ranges. It also notes that blur may reflect incomplete streaming or unavailable high-resolution imagery.
USGS states that the Landsat Image Mosaic of Antarctica lacks coverage south of 82.5°S because of the satellite orbit. That specific dataset limitation does not establish the cause of an arbitrary Google Earth patch.

Record coordinates, zoom level, imagery date, provider attribution, and the unedited screenshot. Do not rely on a cropped repost.
Check other dates, another provider, and a fully loaded view. Distinguish a display issue from a limitation in the source data.
What would demonstrate deliberate alteration? What would demonstrate an ordinary mosaic or coverage issue? Neither should be assumed for an unexamined patch.
These are a checklist, not an upload form. The site has not authenticated a specific “concealed area.” Claims about a particular patch remain unresolved until its original material can be examined.
